COVID-19 Clinic Procedures for Lakeshore Physiotherapy

We are looking forward to welcoming our valuable clients – both the familiar faces and the new- to Lakeshore Physiotherapy. We are committed to providing as safe an environment as possible for both our clients and staff.

We will be following guidelines from the Provincial Health Officer of the Government of British Columbia as well as the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia.

  1. Pre-appointment Screening: Our lovely receptionists will be asking you questions often! Any client or staff member who has met either of the two conditions below will be asked to refrain from entering the clinic at this time. You will be asked these questions at the time of booking, as well as upon entry to the clinic:
    1. Any of the following symptoms in the past 14 days, either new or a worsening of a chronic condition: fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat or painful swallowing, runny nose, loss of sense of smell or appetite, fatigue, headache or muscle aches.
    2. Return from any travel outside Canada in the past 14 days.
    We will be happy to welcome you back to Lakeshore Physiotherapy at least 10 days after the resolution of symptoms. This is the most important way that we can ensure the safety of our clinic.
  2. Maximizing Physical Distancing: Touch is important for Physiotherapy, but we need to ensure safety.
    1. We will continue to offer Virtual Physiotherapy appointments that can be accessed with a computer remotely. These are the safest method of obtaining our services.
    2. We have reduced the treatment spaces as well as the number of staff working in the clinic at one time. Your appointment will either be 1 hour (if a new assessment) or 30 minutes (if a follow-up). We will not be able to extend treatment times beyond these time-frames.
    3. The number of clients permitted in our waiting room at one time will not exceed 3- please follow the floor stickers to ensure 2m distance between patients. PLEASE ARRIVE AT YOUR APPOINTMENT ON TIME, LOOK INTO THE WAITING ROOM BEFORE ENTERING AND DO NOT ENTER IF THERE ARE MORE THAN 2 PEOPLE. SIMPLY WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND THEN ENTER WHEN SAFE.
    4. The waiting room is for clients only, PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANYONE WITH YOU TO YOUR APPOINTMENT UNLESS IT IS ESSENTIAL FOR YOUR SAFETY OR COMMUNICATION. Please also leave all personal belongings (water bottles, books, etc.) in your vehicle. Food and drink are not permitted at this time.
    5. Upon entry, please immediately apply hand sanitizer. You will be asked to pre-pay for your appointment using CREDIT CARD OR DEBIT, OR E-transfer ONLY. We will not be accepting cash or cheques at this time. You may also phone ahead of your appointment and pre-pay over the phone. RECEIPTS WILL BE EMAILED TO YOU. You will be directed to a specific treatment room as quickly as possible. The rooms have numbers above the entry.
    6. After your appointment, we ask that you proceed to the back door (follow the arrows) and exit out the back, unless you require the automatic door for exiting.
    7. Please phone or email the clinic to re-book further appointments.
    8. PLEASE NOTE: OUR WASHROOM WILL BE CLOSED, EXCEPT FOR EMERGENCY USE. Please use the washroom at work or home before you arrive. This will greatly reduce the time spent on disinfecting procedures.
    9. Hot packs, ice, blankets will not be provided at this time.
  3. PPE/Cleaning and Disinfection: Keeping all of us as safe as possible
    1. Your therapist will be wearing a mask for your treatment, as well as possibly eye protection/gown/face shield depending on the type of treatment and Provincial guidelines.
    2. WE WOULD ASK THAT YOU WEAR A MASK (CLOTH OR DISPOSABLE) TO YOUR APPOINTMENT. We will have a small supply of cloth masks available for purchase at $10. Please do not wear gloves to your appointment. Cleaning hands upon entry, before using pin pad, etc. is the most effective approach.
    3. Treatment beds and equipment will be disinfected after each treatment using products with a DIN number that is on the approved list from Health Canada. Frequent disinfecting of high-touch items will also be occurring. SHOULD YOU DEVELOP ANY SYMPTOMS FROM THE PRE-SCREENING QUESTIONNAIRE BEFORE THE TIME OF YOUR APPOINTMENT, PLEASE PHONE US TO CANCEL. WE WILL NOT BE CHARGING A CANCELLATION FEE IF DUE TO ILLNESS. Complying by the above procedures will help to maintain the safety of everyone at Lakeshore Physiotherapy as well as our wonderful Shuswap community. We are happy to be able to provide our valuable services again to those in need. We have missed you! We will be smiling under our masks when you walk in the door.
